VEHICLE OPERATION POLICY
Certain employees may be assigned a company vehicle, a rental vehicle or required to use their personal vehicle for company business.
All driving position requirements:
The term “vehicles” includes but is not limited to, automobiles, all terrain vehicles, forklift, fork truck, snowmobiles and boats.
● Must have a clean driving record within the past 3 years.
● Must be 21 years of age to qualify to operate a company and be insured on the company policy.
● Employment is contingent upon drivers license and MVR review.
No employee shall operate a motor vehicle which that employee is not familiar with, until adequate and specific training has been given.
Employees will operate company vehicles safely and obey all state and federal laws and company policies. Employees and all passengers will wear their seat belt, drive courteously and drive defensively at all times.
Employees will adjust their speed in accordance with the road and weather conditions and have their vehicle under complete control at all times.
It will be the employee’s responsibility to make direct payment to any government jurisdiction for all tickets issued for speeding and other traffic violations. The employee will inform their supervisor of all such violations in a company vehicle within 24 hours.
Employees who operate personal vehicles for company business shall carry a minimum of $300,000 liability insurance.
Company vehicles are NOT to be used for personal use unless you are on call and have advance supervisor approval.
Non-employees may be allowed to ride in company vehicles for company business related reasons or in emergency situations only. Employees will not permit unauthorized persons to drive or operate the company vehicle assigned to them.
All company vehicles should be inspected daily for serviceability. Employees are responsible for notifying management of any unsafe or improperly operating of functioning vehicles. Management will work with employees to arrange repairs. Employees may be held responsible for damage to a company owned vehicle and other automotive equipment while under their care as the result of the employee’s negligence. All cargo must be adequately secured.
Each company vehicle will be maintained by the instruction of the company, i.e., oil change, fluid levels, tire wear and rotation, etc. Damage to the vehicle incurred as a result of lack of such maintenance may result in employee liability for repairs.
Employees shall not outfit company vehicles with stickers, decals or equipment unless approved by a supervisor. Political decals of any kind are not allowed.
Employees will maintain current, valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance information as well as their Wright Express card in the vehicle. Employees will apply valid registration tags and ensure inspection stickers are valid.
A vehicle is not to be operated by anyone under the influence of alcohol, drugs, medication, or any other substance that may impair their ability to operate the vehicle in a safe manner.
Employees will report accidents to their supervisors as soon as they are able, but no later than 24hrs after the incident.
